Winter Beaver Safari

As the chances of seeing the beavers are slimmer over the winter, this trip takes us on the trail of the European beaver where we visit amazing beaver dams, beaver ponds, chewed trees and beaver tracks and trails on a Rewilding estate. We spend the second part of the safari sitting by the beaver ponds so wrap up warmly, but we can’t guarantee their appearance.

We’ll also tell the story of the history of beavers in Scotland, how they re-appeared in Perthshire and why they are so important to the ecology of our rivers and wetlands. This is a great trip for families as everyone can collect their own beaver chips and beaver-chewed sticks!

PRICE: £60pp or £180 for family bookings (2 adults + 2 children)
GROUP SIZE: 2 – 8 people
TIME: 2-2.5 hours
AVAILABLE: Mid October – early April on Saturdays

Meeting time: Meeting near Alyth, 2 hrs before dusk – the exact time and location will be sent after booking.

Informative. friendly, and we saw beavers! A lovely calm experience with a great tour guide and eventually the beavers floated by. What a wonderful way to spend an autumn evening.

A soggy but enjoyable beaver watch Despite a soggy evening we enjoyed our Beaver Safari. Despite the weather we had good sightings of several beavers along with kingfishers and heron. The guide was informative and interesting sharing both her delight in the creatures along with a realistic awareness of the issues around the re-colonisation of riverbanks by the beavers. A worthwhile and enjoyable time.

Truly magical wildlife experience! We really enjoyed the Beaver Safari with Jenna, a true highlight to our trip to Scotland. Starting off learning about the Beavers, their habitats, misconceptions and dam building really set the scene before venturing off to find a Beaver family. Jenna was great at ensuring we saw the Beavers without interrupting their activities and we luckily saw deer and kingfishers too! We only wish it didn't get dark so we could stay watching for longer. We'd recommend to any wildlife lover.

Perthshire 1/2 Day Beaver Safari Had a marvellous and very informative 1/2 day beaver safari with Perthshire Wildlife, firstly learning how beavers (nature's great engineers) reshape their habitat. The second part of the safari was seeing Scottish beavers in the wild. This time I remembered to take my binoculars thank goodness and was rewarded with some wonderful views of the beavers in their natural habitat. Thank you Perthshire Wildlife for a wonderful half day I'll never forget.
