Winter Beaver Rewilding Safari

The chances of seeing the beavers are slimmer over the winter, so this trip takes us in the footsteps of the European beaver where we visit amazing beaver dams, beaver ponds, chewed trees and beaver tracks and trails on a Rewilding estate. We spend half an hour at the end of the safari sitting by the beaver ponds so wrap up warmly, but we can’t guarantee their appearance.

We’ll also tell the story of the history of beavers in Scotland, how they re-appeared in Perthshire and why they are so important to the ecology of our rivers and wetlands. This is a great trip for families as everyone can collect their own beaver chips and beaver-chewed sticks!

A richt grand sighting Probably the highlight of our week in Scotland. Daniele was an excellent and informative guide for us on the half-day trip. Background came first at Banff (?) rewilding (where we saw the effects of beaver activity on the landscape). Then it was a drive to the R.Ericht where we saw all six of a lodge's occupants, 2 parents, 2 of last year's (who put on a play session for me) and 2 of this year's. It didn't matter that it had rained; we were all on our stomachs in the sandy mud getting the best view we could.

Brilliant wildlife safari We had such a brilliant time on our dusk safari. Our guide Anne-Marie was so informative and interesting and we got amazing views of three adults beavers on our trip. I would definitely recommend the safari to anyone wanting to see and learn more about beavers and their return to Scotland.

Great beaver experience Wonderful experience in a very peaceful setting. The beavers were a bit elusive initially but then put on a good show as the light faded. Guide was very knowledgable, friendly and relaxed - interesting to learn about the reintroduction process and different ways beavers came to be back in Scotland. Overall, would fully recommend.

Amazing beaver safari We had the most amazing time on our beaver safari. Joan was a fabulous guide and made sure that we had the opportunity to see the beavers. We sat for about an hour watching about 6 of them coming and going from the lodge. It was the highlight of our week of wildlife watching in Scotland. We even think we saw a bonus otter.
