Winter Beaver Safari

As the chances of seeing the beavers are slimmer over the winter, this trip takes us on the trail of the European beaver where we visit amazing beaver dams, beaver ponds, chewed trees and beaver tracks and trails on a Rewilding estate. We spend the second part of the safari sitting by the beaver ponds so wrap up warmly, but we can’t guarantee their appearance.

We’ll also tell the story of the history of beavers in Scotland, how they re-appeared in Perthshire and why they are so important to the ecology of our rivers and wetlands. This is a great trip for families as everyone can collect their own beaver chips and beaver-chewed sticks!

PRICE: £60pp or £180 for family bookings (2 adults + 2 children)
GROUP SIZE: 2 – 8 people
TIME: 2-2.5 hours
AVAILABLE: Mid October – early April on Saturdays

Meeting time: Meeting near Alyth, 2 hrs before dusk – the exact time and location will be sent after booking.

Half Day Beaver Tour Myself and my partner went on the half day beaver tour in the evening. Jean was our guide and she was fantastic, very passionate and knowledgeable about the beavers and more! It was very interesting to learn about and view their habitat and we had a very lovely time watching the beavers in the river. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning about and observing our local animals.

Beavers are cool Went on the half day beaver tour. From the get go, met with Jean who was amazing! She was a passionate, kind, patient tour guide with lovely stories and lots of knowledge about the wildlife in the area. She answered all our questions perfectly! Saw lots of beavers, which was awesome! An amazing day for anyone interested in wildlife. Beavers are way cooler than I realised.

Fabulous Had a fab tour with Daniēle who shared her extensive knowledge about beavers and how beneficial these eco engineers are to our waterways.
We did some natural foraging as the beavers would do as she pointed out other birds and wildlife in the area.
We saw a number of beavers swimming up and down the river, some coming within meters of our position.
Thank you Daniēle and we will return

Enjoyable, informative evening We really enjoyed the Beaver Safari, we walked down to the riverbank after an introduction from our very knowledgable and enthusiastic guide, Daniele, and with the rain helpfully stopping, the beavers were spotted after a short walk along the bank. The peace and quiet of the setting, birds singing and the stillness of the evening made for a very pleasant couple of hours, learning about the beavers, and seeing them swimming and playing, much to the delight of the five people in the group. Good value. Bring wellies or walking boots/shoes, if wet it will be muddy, binoculars are helpful too.
