Very exciting news! Perthshire Wildlife has been been shortlisted in the Business for Nature Award category and is through to the finals of the 2024 Nature of Scotland Awards!
From the RSPB website – ‘Congratulations to all our finalists! The shortlist for the 2024 awards represents a cross-section of businesses, charities, the public sector and individuals working towards conserving the country’s unique wildlife and natural environment. ‘
We are so pleased to have been shortlisted and are already looking forward to the swanky awards ceremony in November.
Remember our Saving our Swifts project with Tayside Biodiversity won a Highly commended in 2022 – see our blog here where I had my photo taken with Iolo – swoon!

Most of our tours have finished for the season, though we run the Winter Beaver Safaris twice a week until mid-April when everything starts up again. Our Riverbank and Canoe Beaver Safaris have been a great success, with beavers being seen on all tours except for one. We have had lots of foreign visitors as we are now featured in the Lonely Planet guide to Scotland – from New Zealand, Australia, the US, Denmark, Italy, France, Grenada, the Netherlands, Ireland and Switzerland. It’s lovely to be able to showcase our wonderful wildlife to people from overseas as well as from the home countries.

Our various conservation projects will keep us busy over the autumn and winter. We will be running another pond project in the Perth & Blairgowrie area to improve ponds for wildlife and will need volunteers to join in so please contact us if you fancy a bit of pond digging! Plus we have Swift projects in Angus and Perthshire to manage, working out where to put nestboxes up for their return in May, organising Local Swift Champions and liaising with Planners and developers.
We also had a new staff member this summer in the form of the wonderful Jenna. She is the youngest member of the team and has been helping us out on pond volunteer days and wildflower planting for years now. She has received wonderful reviews for her guiding and it’s good to be able to offer her some more experience – see a top review here
