Happy new year! I hope you have a happy, healthy & wildlife-filled 2022.

We are working on a couple of conservation projects over the next few months. At the end of February we will complete the Forfar Swift project with the erection of thirty nestboxes for householders and businesses (we still have a few spare so do get in touch if you’d like one) so there are more places for these wonderful birds to nest. We are also running the Tayside Ponds Project where we will be improving a number of ponds across Perthshire for wildlife. This includes eight volunteer days where we will be removing vegetation to create more open water and planting native wetland wildflowers. The dates and locations are:

1st March – Abernethy; 6th March – Perth; 8th March – Perth; 12th March – Murthly; 15th March – Perth; 16th March – Rattray; 22nd March – Blairgowrie; 27th March – Scone; 29th March – Blairgowrie. Please get in touch if you would like to help on taysideamphibians@yahoo.co.uk

Most of the volunteer days will be wet and muddy so please wear old clothes and waterproofs, wellies and bring a pair of gardening gloves, along with your lunch and a hot drink. Bring waders if you have them. We will provide the biscuits! Please cover any open cuts with waterproof plasters.

Thanks to help from VisitScotland, we are continuing our discounted Winter Beaver Safaris up to February 18th. Just use the code UPTO50OFF when booking to get £20 off per ticket! This has been a very popular offer and I am grateful to VisitScotland for enabling more people to have a Great Day Out and see wonderful beaver habitats.

We look forward to seeing you some time this year!
